Content, content, content

Sarah

We experts in natural search know that Google loves content but how is it possible to provide content that is interesting enough to actually bother writing.

With IP addresses now running out and everyone and his dog and cat and budgerigar building websites all the time the amount of content amassing on the web is growing exponentially. Of course much of it is utter rubbish, possible even most of it is and unfortunately much of this rubbish has been put there simply because of the search engines and nothing else. It has to be said that that is an amazing irony.

A search engine’s job is to find content that is relevant to the search but in order to do get traffic site owners create masses of pages full of rubbish. Even if you don’t want to write your own rubbish, you can now pay ex-farmers in the Far East to do it for you or even get software to create it automatically. That has to be hugely sad doesn’t it? One day growing rice and the next writing drivel about widgets for the benefit of some site owner.

I started writing this blog for all the wrong reasons ie to get noticed by search engines and so our site more highly listed. But now and on reflection that is silly. Now I’m writing it because I want to and I feel all the better for that.

So for this evenings post the advice is ‘to stop writing rubbish for your website’. Write good interesting content that you enjoy writing and then people might actually read. You’ll feel better about it and your readers will enjoy it more.
