Twitter Benefits SEO

Sarah

As the search for new avenues to reach your target audience continues are you overlooking the opportunity that Twitter may be able to provide?

Twitter allows you to easily inform your customers about any new products or offers that you may be wanting to promote. A great way to direct people towards your main site, it requires much less time as the maximum characters per posting is 140. A posting is called a tweet, [their name not ours].

Once used mainly for people to keep other people updated on what is going on in their lives, web savvy businesses are now seeing the benefits it can provide as well.

With Twitter users now reaching the 3 million mark just the amount of people using it should make you contemplate signing up. When added to the actual benefits it can provide it should have you considering signing up immediately.

A twitter account will need updating regularly to keep a strong audience level and one that takes an interest in your company’s business so it requires some commitment to the cause, much like a blog does. This shouldn’t be too difficult as the amount of words you can enter at any one time is so limited it can hardly be called time consuming.

The use of keywords should be as important in your Twitter updates as they are in your main site. It would probably be wise to keep the majority of information relevant to your business and the industry. Unless you’re Madonna or Wayne Rooney most people won’t be to bothered that you’re about to have lunch, off to the pub or sitting on a train.

It may require a thick skin at times but Twitter is great for customer feedback as it allows anyone to respond to what you are doing at anytime. This can help you to take any feedback on board and react accordingly, in much the same way that a thread or forum would work but more direct and with a quicker turnaround possible.

It has also been noted that Google is now crawling tweets and that a tweet can sometimes appear higher than a web page.

So if you’re looking for the next social marketing tool to promote your business you should consider Twitter.
