The Queen and SEO
Should the Queen be brushing up on her Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) procedures? It seems no one is immune to an SEO review these days.
The Daily Telegraph recently reviewed the Royal website for best SEO practices and found that they were able to pick a lot of holes in it.
They noted that over 30,000 pages had been indexed by Google but that was about the end of the good news. At the time of this article the review found that the UK Royal family’s website had an error page ranked in second place in the search engine results pages for the keyphrase “The British Monarchy”. The review also found that the website had around 22,060 errors pages and none of them had a 404 error. This is a basic requirement for any website.
The website was found to have inconsistencies in the title tags and URL structure, h tags where unoptimised and little keyword research was carried out for the most popular terms used to find the Queens website.
It seems as though Buckingham Palace needs to sharpen up on its act and optimise their website a little better.
