Apple in Takeover Talks of Twitter
Another day and another takeover bid for Twitter emerges, this time a $700million approach by Apple.
Following on from the Facebook bid and the reported interest of Google and Microsoft, Apple are reported to be in late stage negotiations by several industry bloggers who believe that they they hope to announce a deal in the next month or so.
The figures quoted are a lot higher than the $500milllion cash and shares offer that Facebook put forward last year. The interest from Apple stems from the amount of applications that are available and are being regularly used for Twitter on the iPhone.
This news will put the morals of co-founder Biz Stone to the test who has already gone on record saying that he wanted the company to remain independent so he could expand on his messaging service.
With the regular updating of a Twitter account ideally suited to the iPhone the partnership could be a complimentary and beneficial one for both parties. We will wait to see how this one pans out.
