Google Beaten to the Line

Sarah

It seems as though Google can be beaten in search related queries after all.

Search Engine Land did some playing around with the search engines by inputting “Who won the Kentucky Derby?”, and they discovered that LiveSearch and Ask.com were the fastest to provide the news ahead of Google.

This was obviously not to Google’s liking as it brought an instant reply from Google’s Matt Cutts on the Search Engine Land website. He noted that Google was the first to have the answer in the algorithm/ crawled results category. The answer to that was forthcoming from Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Land and pretty much anybody else who had read it I would have thought, in so much as “who cares?”

Results are results so maybe this will have given the search competition some hope in that there are things that they can do better than Google.
