Yahoo and Microsoft Merger Back on

Sarah

More than a few months down the line a merger between Microsoft and Yahoo now seems to be on the cards, for definite this time. Industry blogger, Kara Swisher has reported one of her sources informed her that “the deal had now become a case of the how and not just the if.”

If the deal is completed then the likely arrangement will see Microsoft running the technology side of the business whilst Yahoo concentrate on the search and advertising sales. This will enable both companies to utilise their perceived strengths in the partnership.

It seems there are still several hurdles to negotiate before the deal can be finalised. Most of the sticking points will come from a trust standpoint on their own individual technologies, which quite rightly they protect closely.

The word from Microsoft is that negotiations have been a lot smoother with the new straight talking Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz taking over from former CEO Jerry Yang.

As the talks have been on and off for some time now only time will tell if the merger happens and they are able to form a company that can rival Google’s domination.
