Some of our clients here at White Hat Media sometimes source up to 90 percent of their monthly traffic through the search engines. Needless to say SEO is of paramount importance to the growth of these businesses.

All Change on the Social Media Scene

I remember the day when the web changed forever for me. It was at the end of the dot com boom in 2001 and I was about to sell my business to a large global corp.

Working during the dot com boom had been like riding on a huge wave of growth and optimism and then one day suddenly it all stopped. I got the call to say that along with a couple of dozen other purchases ‘Large Global’ had decided not to buy, which in their case was unheard of.

The Internet Takes A Stand Against SOPA and PIPA

It’s the 18th of January 2012, mark it down, for this is a day for the history books, this is a day where the people rise up against control, this is a day that the people say no to legislation being forced upon them against their will by a government and its representatives that they elected to serve them.

The Jam Pot Theory

First I would like to wish everybody a happy New Year. A new year with all sorts up its sleeve I’m sure!

I rather sadly take great pride in selecting the finest jam I can get my hands on and then enjoy the delights of a beautiful scone filled with fresh clotted cream and jam.

On Google’s insights blog for the US the iPad 2 came up 6th on the searches and in the UK apparently over 3.5 million people own tablet computers.

How Long Can ‘Dictators’ Within Business Dominate the Online Community?

In light of the news this morning, it occurred to me that over recent months karma appears to be well and truly catching up with the world’s most notorious dictators.

2006 saw the death and execution of Saddam Hussein after being found guilty of crimes against humanity. The next to drop was none other than the world’s most wanted man, Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden, or Osama bin Laden to his friends. The Al-Qaeda founder was stopped in his tracks early in May 2011 by the US special force.

Google’s Choice of British eTown Is… Surprising

Google has just announced its list of ‘eTowns’ in Britain, France, Italy and Poland. And the winner of the 2011 title in the UK is … Scunthorpe?

Just Stop it Please, SEO isn’t Dead.

It’s been a long time since I’ve written something for the company blog (other than that last post, but forget about that one, because otherwise this set up doesn’t work).

Living in a Filter Bubble

We are all living within a filter bubble, with the search engines and some heavyweight websites tailoring, cutting, boxing and packaging up the results of our search queries into lovely little personalised treats.
