Java
Is a programming language developed by Sun Microsystems that allows you to play online games, chat with people or even calculate your mortgage interest. Unlike other software programs Java can run on any platform type as long as they contain a Java Virtual Machine.
The language was set up to deliver in several ways, to be simple, object oriented and familiar. To be robust and secure, architecture neutral and portable, be of high performance and lastly interpreted, threaded and dynamic.
In 2007 Sun Microsystems completed making all of Java’s core code and open source software free.
JavaScript
Developed by Netscape, Javascript is a scripting language that allows web pages to be more animated. This is done through graphics and animation and is normally used for drop down menus or tabbed displays.
It can be used in a websites development to change a formatted date or to cause a new link to appear in a pop up window. It also uses a format called mouseover to allow a text or image to change when the mouse is hovered over it. It can not be used to support stand alone programmes.
JQuery
jQuery is a lightweight JavaScript library that emphasizes interaction between JavaScript and HTML. It was released in January 2006, and is free, open source software.
