XML Sitemap

XML Sitemap – Designed for search engines, an XML sitemap is the means of organising a website. It will identify the URL and the data under each section. Created as a tool for when websites were becoming so big that they were becoming more difficult to track all the changes, the XML protocol was able to track URLs more efficiently and track when a website has been updated.

This is not an SEO tool but it does allow search engines to be more accurate with their ranking searches. The XML sitemap is recognised by Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. Priority values can be assigned to the more important pages of your site, such as the home page, contact page and any product you may be featuring. XML Sitemaps should be submitted to all the major search engines regularly.
