A major search engine and web company that was the standard bearer before Google came along. It was created back in 1994 by Jerry Yang and David Filo in Sunnyvale, California. Still a prominent player in the market, they have been in the middle of takeover rumours from both Google and Microsoft. Yahoo! still maintains its position as one of the top three search engine companies.
Features it offers include a search engine and email service. They have recently discontinued their popular free web portal, geocities.
